As you can see I invested over $2500 into this bicycle.  My first priority was a smooth and safe ride with minimal weight, with close attention to style.  The effects on health are incredible.  If you are dependent on a car, bus, or train to commute to school/work, I highly suggest you invest in a bike if the distance is right.  You cannot put a price on your health.  Perhaps more valuable is the conversational fodder you have when hot Japanese women ask you about your bike.  I actually got my J-girlfriend when she complemented me on my ride randomly on the street.
